The IABC Foundation’s Gift of Excellence Grants:
Expanding Access to Certification for Professionals Facing Economic Adversity

Professional certification allows business communicators to demonstrate their knowledge and prove their expertise. Research has shown it can lead to greater visibility in an organization, career advancement and pay increases. However, not every professional is in a financial situation to pursue certification.

With this in mind, the IABC Foundation’s 2024-25 Gift of Excellence Grants seeks to fund certification fees through the Global Communication Certification Council (GCCC) for IABC members who cannot afford them. The foundation is particularly interested in helping to expand availability of the GCCC program where currency discrepancies or developing economies may make it financially difficult for members to take part. IABC members living and working in areas designated as developing nations by the World Bank and International Monetary Fund, as well as those living in areas significantly impacted by a natural disaster, will receive the highest priority in the disbursement of Gift of Excellence grant funds. And all applicants demonstrating financial need will be considered.

Applicants must meet all GCCC application and exam requirements for the Communication Management Professional (CMP) or Strategic Communication Management Professional (SCMP) certification. A receipt of a grant through the Gift of Excellence does not guarantee an individual will qualify or pass the exam. All such determinations are made directly by the GCCC in their standard exam application and exam administration processes. This grant program is designed only to provide funding support.

If you’re interested in applying for the 2024-25 Gift of Excellence grant program, we encourage you to first review the 2025 Gift of Excellence Briefing Packet. The closing date for applications is 12 Februaryy 2025. Please email recognition@iabc.com if you have any questions about the grant program. All questions about certification should be sent to info@gcccouncil.org.

Good luck with your application!
